A (Re)introduction

Since I am re-booting the Amnesiac’s Library blog, I thought it would be fun to (re)introduce my written work. Over the last 16 years, I have published four works of fiction: a novella, two novels and a collection of short stories. I currently have a third novel out on submission and I am actively working on several new projects. I have been very fortunate that with each project I’ve been able to provide my own cover art and in two cases the interior illustrations.

For those that might be interested, here is my entry in the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction.

My first book was The Lost Machine, an illustrated 106 page novella published under my independent imprint Radiolaria Studios. The book follows Lumsden Moss, a teacher, as he seeks to understand his wrongful imprisonment. As he escapes the the remote Brickscold Prison, he encounters Irridis a mysterious being with supernatural abilities. Together they travel to The City of Steps in search of the truth about Lumsden’s past. The Lost Machine has 5 full page interior illustrations and a foreword by Mike Mignola.

My second book was Necessary Monsters. The novel expands on the world introduced in Necessary Monsters. Lumsden Moss remains an escaped convict, an unrepentant bibliophile with a long standing desire to exact revenge on those who wronged him. When he returns to the City of Steps to steal a rare book from the man who sentenced him to prison, his actions attract the attention of the wrong people. As Moss struggles to stay one step ahead of his pursuers, he falls in with Imogene, a nimble fingered thief with a travelling bookcase filled with secrets. Stalked by a witch-child and her nightmarish companion, Moss and Imogene realize the stolen book is the key to a long-forgotten monastery, cursed and abandoned since the Purge.

My third novel, Tailor of Echoes, takes place in the same world as the previous books, but it is a standalone with a new cast of characters. The ancient City of Steps is transforming. Alleys and staircases appear where none had previously existed. A tree is discovered at the bottom of a canal. In his search for the cause, a young visionary architect, Adrian Peak, falls afoul of a secret society called the Curators. The Curators task Adrian with finding a lost document called the Oneiric Chart in their vast seal library. The chart is the key that opens a door to a shadow city in another, eerily familiar world. Lannikin Flower the Curator’s shadowy servant, has a deeply personal interest in Adrian’s failure. Numerous illustrations.
